The Hoosier
Heritage Conference advanced ten wrestlers to state finals competition next
weekend during semi-state bouts held Saturday. To nobody’s surprise, six of
those individuals are from Yorktown. Included in the half dozen grapplers
advancing are two semi-state champions. They are Derek Bevans at 125 lbs. and
Devon Jackson at 130 lbs. It is worth noting that both young men are undefeated
for the entire season. Bevans is 51-0 while Jackson is 50-0.
Four other
schools advanced one wrestler each to the big show in Indianapolis. They are
Delta, Greenfield-Central, Pendleton Heights, and New Palestine. None of those
individuals earned semi-state titles.
